Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Announce New Album, Wrong Creatures

Today, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club announced their forthcoming album Wrong Creatures, out on January 12, 2018 and released the first single “Little Thing Gone Wild.”

Wrong Creatures was produced by Nick Launay (Nick Cave, Arcade Fire) and is available for pre-sale beginning today in all digital music stores and directly through the band’s online store. “Little Thing Gone Wild” is available for purchase as an individual track beginning today and everyone who pre-orders the album will receive the song immediately – pre-order is available through all digital stores or directly HERE.

Recorded in Los Angeles, Wrong Creatures takes a journey throughout rock's history, taking unlikely twists and turns, both peppered with historic influences but also having one foot firmly in the present. Yet their focus still firmly set on returning to edge of the stage, never resting on their laurels and bringing people further into their live experience. “It’s a crazy making machine, it can chew you up good, i mean we literally toured till the wheels came off and Leah’s brain literally started leaking out of her head” say’s Been. “I know i’ve battled on and off with mental depression, and Pete’s head never came with any proper instructions.”

Wrong Creatures returns to the core of BRMC's alchemy, yet plunges the knife in even further. From the Cave-esque murder balladry of “Haunt” to the garage punk of “Little Thing Gone Wild,” it runs the gamut allowing the band to flex every muscle in their armor. They remain opaque about the songs' greater meanings, fearful of past misunderstandings. “I find myself writing about death a lot,” says Hayes. “I find myself having a discussion with death, which sounds dark. For me, it's dark humor.” Talking about mortality allows Hayes to explore life's great mistakes and regrets. Channeling them through rolling riffs and dirge-laden rhythms, however, extolls the demons within. It's a great catharsis for the band, and it's a great unifier for their audience who can also seek solace in the emotional heft.

Ultimately, the band are survivors during an era where rock’n'roll can often be overshadowed by garish pop and domineering hip-hop. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have learned how to cut out all the noise and concentrate on what matters. Robert Levon Been: “We are truly an island – come hell or high water, so it’s usually best to dress accordingly. Though i’m not sure what the proper attire is when drowning in fire. But leather usually goes with everything.”

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club also announced their North American tour which will be kicking off on January 15, 2018 with dates in Washington DC, Boston, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and more. The trio will also be hitting Europe and the UK for select tour dates this fall beginning October 23. Pre-sale for the North American tour dates begins today and general on-sale begins on September 15 – head HERE to purchase. The band has partnered with Plus 1 for the tour in which $1 from each ticket will be donated to War Child, a worldwide organization that supports programs aiding women & children dislocated and impacted by war, political unrest, terrorism and poverty.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Announce Live in Paris Album & DVD Pre-Sale

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are pleased to announce the release of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club- Live In Paris on May 5. The double album and accompanying DVD was recorded live at Theatre Trianon in Paris on February 24, 2014, during the band’s sold-out tour of Europe. In addition to the full concert, the DVD also includes the documentary film 33.3% by Yana Amur, which shows fans an intimate side of the band never seen before. A full track list can be found below.

'It was a little over a year ago while sitting in the back of a passenger van outside Tokyo, all of us covered in sweat and half cocked grins trying to catch our breath after having just walked off stage, I remember someone uttering the idea that we might actually really want to think about filming one of these shows before it's all over,” reflects Robert Been of BRMC. ‘I guess my first reaction was that we could all use a very long hot shower much more than another live DVD at that exact moment. My second was that it might be a shame if we reached the end of that tour without capturing any of the beauty and even brutality of it. But a lot of the music we create is not only where we exist, but also where we escape to.’

‘It’s difficult though with film to avoid making a band into just another 'reality show' that’s crafted into a product on a shelf, and at the same time just painting a plain picture of a live concert would almost be like a dream without very much color or feeling. In the end we have released two separate films to show both sides of the same coin….'Live In Paris' is the dream. And '33.3% Documentary' is the morning after.’

The concert film was directed by Bartleberry Logan and won the 2014 UK Music Video Award for “Best Live Concert Film.” Live In Paris will be available as a 3 Disc set (2 CDs + 1 DVD) or 3 Vinyl collection + 1 DVD. Fans who pre-order either format will have the opportunity to augment their purchase by adding either a poster and/or T-shirt, both exclusive to the pre-order. Head to the ,BRMC official site to pre-order now and preview some clips from the concert and documentary.  As a bonus for those who pre-order, fans will be able to immediately download 6 digital tracks from the album.

BRMC Announce US Tour, Premiere First Single "Let The Day Begin"

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club recently unveiled their sixth studio album, titled Specter At The Feast, is set for release March 19 on Abstract Dragon / Vagrant Records. The trio will be overseas during the week of release but are pleased to announce their first headline run in the U.S. since 2010, in support of Beat The Devil’s Tattoo. The tour kick offs April 22 in their original hometown of San Francisco at The Fillmore then heads east and stops in NYC at Terminal 5 on May 4 and winds back to the west with a final show in Los Angeles on June 1 at The Wiltern. All dates below.

Specter At The Feast has already garnered early praise from Rolling Stone who called it a “superb new album,” while NPR crowned the rock ‘n’ roll pioneers “ones to watch in 2013” and called the album “more direct, more heartfelt and more honestly beautiful.”

The first single “Let The Day Begin” is actually a cover, and a thoughtful homage to beloved Michael Been of The Call, also Robert Been’s father and honorary “fourth member” of BRMC. This song propelled The Call into mass consciousness when it reached #1 in the US on the mainstream Rock charts in 1989 and became their biggest crossover hit, thanks to the big arena-rock hook. The song embodies The Call’s optimistic message and BRMC rip through the roaring track as if it was their own. Stream the new track below, and visit to sign up for the band's mailing list and grab a free download of the track.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Return with Sixth Studio Album in Spring 2013, West Coast Underplay Shows Announced

Having the chance to release more than one critically-acclaimed album over the course of a career is no small feat and releasing a sixth is plain remarkable. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club continue to cement their place in the rock ‘n’ roll landscape, as they put the finishing touches on their new LP due March 2013, following studio album five, Beat The Devil’s Tattoo. Rolling Stone deemed that album “unremittingly grim, and undeniably fun,” and quipped “few bands wear their frowns so well.”

West coast fans can rejoice as the band is also excited to announce they will play three intimate shows, tracing their California roots: Slim’s in San Francisco on December 19, The Catalyst in Santa Cruz on December 20 and The Troubadour in Los Angeles on December 21. These will be the first shows they’ve played in their home markets in nearly three years and are ready to try out some of their newly recorded material live for the first time. BRMC have also announced the first leg of their headline tour set to begin in the UK in March. All shows are on sale now. See the image below for all dates and head to to for tickets.

The notoriously mysterious trio remains true to their sonic template – fuzzy guitars, blues licks, atmospheric feedback – yet drew inspiration from a very different place for this new release. In August 2010, the band unexpectedly lost someone they often referred to as their fourth member, Michael Been, also bassist Robert Been’s father. After taking some time off BRMC returned to their roots, their love of making music, and recalled their very first album as reference. They ventured to Robert Been’s hometown of Santa Cruz, CA to record some of this album – the very same place they recorded their unanimously praised self-titled debut LP. Been says: “Peter, Leah and myself are dying to get out of this studio right now and back into the fight. It’s taken us a long while getting back on our feet, but the time has come.”

Michael Been (1960-2010)

Michael Been, vocalist and guitarist of ‘80s band The Call, and father of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club’s Robert Been, passed away today in Belgium, after suffering a heart attack backstage. Been was on tour with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, acting as their sound engineer. He was 60. The Call erupted on the scene with a passionate sound and a strong political message, and earned numerous hits, including “The Walls Came Down,” “I Still Believe (Great Design)” and “Let the Day Begin,” which climbed to #1 on the Rock chart. Their fans included Peter Gabriel, Robbie Robertson, and Bono, all contributing to albums, and Gabriel deeming them “the future of American music.” Been was not only the father of Robert Been but a significant part of BRMC’s development. Often referenced as their fourth member, Been spent countless hours in the studio acting in many roles from mentor and guide, to helping the now internationally revered band capture their sound to tape. He acted as co-producer and engineer on numerous BRMC albums and was their loyal sound engineer for as many years. We're fortunate at Vagrant to have worked with Michael on BRMC's recent album Beat The Devil's Tattoo and held Michael in respect and admiration for all that he did. He will be sorely missed. We send our deepest condolences to Michael's family and everyone in Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - you are in our thoughts
